Founded in 2005, Brazil Translations has been operating in the translation market for almost two decades and has around 200 native and Brazilian professional translators to meet translation demands in more than 50 languages.

Sworn translation, technical translation, simultaneous translation, consecutive translation, subtitling and transcription – the wide range of professional translators working on demand for the company allows it to serve diverse segments and establishes it as an authority on the subject of translation in Brazil.

The commercial and financial directors of Brazil Translations, Sergio Rapaci and Adalberto Rangel, spoke with us and shared a bit about their experience migrating to the cloud with Skyone and the Skyone Autosky platform.

The pandemic was a turning point for Brazil Translations

Like so many other companies, Brazil Translations was caught off guard by the Coronavirus pandemic in mid-2020, and until then all of the company's infrastructure, process controls, and systems were hosted on local servers.

However, the social distancing policies implemented to contain the spread of the Coronavirus meant that cloud migration plans finally came to fruition, and in that scenario, the cloud provided the necessary flexibility to maintain company operations with employees working remotely.

Through a referral from Mega Sistemas, a Brazilian company that develops business management software and is responsible for one of the systems used by Brazil Translations, they came into contact with Skyone.

The speed of migrating to the Cloud with Skyone was a pleasant surprise

All contact with Skyone was made through the Brazil Translations IT team, and there was a need for speed in order to avoid disrupting internal processes and to continue the company's operations.

“Generally speaking, we can say it was very satisfactory because the process was very fast. They told us that starting Monday the office would be 'offline'! So it was very dynamic and quick, and of course, having the support of Skyone and Mega along with our IT team was essential. It was a very short timeframe; we were surprised. It was something we were already considering, but with the pandemic, we understood that it was the best time!”

– Sergio Rapaci, Commercial Director at Brazil Translations.

Sergio Rapaci told us that afterwards there was a period of adaptation and adjustments, but that they had no problems carrying out their activities at that time, and today the cloud is already part of the office routine.

Moreover, a project that began with a strong focus on making activities more flexible and enabling remote work ended up bringing several other benefits.

Skyone Autosky has brought benefits that go far beyond providing a more flexible workspace

Clearly, the migration to the cloud impacted all areas of Brazil Translations, enabling departments to exchange information more quickly, as well as providing the option to maintain operations remotely.

However, there was also a significant impact on its clients. With the LGPD (Brazilian General Data Protection Law) in effect, and as service providers, some clients require the company to respond to audit reports and guarantee that its processes are handled with extreme security.

Today, the system where all operations and information exchange take place is hosted in the cloud, and Brazil Translations is able to guarantee its preventative measures against cyberattacks and leaks of confidential data thanks to this infrastructure.

The investment made in the migration project, taking into account licenses, security software, and other resources, was well worth it considering the gains in efficiency, security, and flexibility achieved.

"The flexibility that the cloud has brought has allowed us to optimize customer service times, and this has a total impact on our sales."

– Adalberto Rangel – Chief Financial Officer of Brazil Translations

The outlook for the future

The pandemic is over, and yet, working from home is the model adopted by about 20% of employees at Brazil Translations, and the company sees this as a benefit. Some employees have adapted better to this model, and this impacts their productivity and consequently the company's efficiency.

Today, Brazil Translations sees the cloud as an opportunity to grow without worrying about the scalability of a physical infrastructure, and the technology also proves to be an open door for its digital evolution, facilitating the integration of systems, for example.

"We are very pleased with the services provided by Skyone" – Sergio Rapaci, Commercial Director of Brazil Translations
