The “Monthly Bill Estimate” tab provides a detailed, real-time view of your monthly costs as you enter values for AWS services. The estimate shows both one-time costs and recurring monthly costs. On the right, there are several customer templates you can load to get started with a specific use case.
How to enter values for services in the AWS Calculator
After identifying the services you want to use on Amazon Web Services (AWS), you can start entering their values into the calculator. Remember: first choose the appropriate AWS region. You can select AWS South America , São Paulo region, to get specific pricing for that region, for example.
If you are using Amazon EC2 , you will need to add a new line and provide the number of instances, planned monthly usage, instance type, and operating system. Then, you must select a billing option, such as On-Demand or Reserved.
You can also specify values for elastic block storage volumes, elastic IP, data transfer, and elastic load balancing. You can select other AWS services listed on the left and enter parameters for them as well.
How to estimate your monthly bill using the AWS Calculator
After entering the necessary service and usage parameters for your application, you can analyze the automatically generated costs in the "Monthly Invoice Estimate" tab. The function of this tab is to provide a detailed breakdown of the costs for each of the services for which you entered values in the "Services" tab.
Each line also breaks down the granular costs of this service so you can understand the individual pricing of the resources. Finally, the tab summarizes the total monthly cost and any one-time charges. This estimate provides the same types of information you'll see on your actual AWS bill.
