About the company
Central de Adubos began its operations in 2010 with one main objective: to impact the agricultural market in the São Francisco Valley region by supplying high-quality fertilizers and products.
With this in mind, over the years the company has developed its work and its product portfolio. As a result, the company has grown and become a name always remembered by producers and the market in the states of Pernambuco and Bahia when the subject is agriculture.
Currently, Central de Adubos is a benchmark, being the largest distributor of agricultural products in the Northeast region. With more than 450 employees and a product mix that fully serves producers in several Northeastern states: Pernambuco, Bahia, Sergipe, and Piauí. Furthermore, the company prioritizes understanding each client's needs to best serve them, offering full technical support, and possessing an excellent distribution strategy combined with competitive prices and payment terms, which are its major differentiators.
Furthermore, Central de Adubos has an ambitious expansion plan that will allow the company to be present in more cities in the Northeast. Always striving to offer the best products and services to its customers.
Challenges
The company's growth brought them more opportunities and more customers. Therefore, their counter became even busier, which was very positive for the company! Because of this, Central de Adubos realized it needed to centralize and keep the systems of all its stores readily available in one easily accessible location.
As Aurélio Cavalcante, the company's president, explains: "Basically, what drives our business here is agriculture, so we work with fertilizer, seeds, pesticides, and irrigation equipment. We have a very busy sales counter today, and it demands a lot from our work platform, from our service platform."
Initially, they faced the challenge of keeping their entire infrastructure running smoothly, which wasn't always possible and significantly hampered their work. Furthermore, they needed dedicated space and an IT team to maintain their entire physical system, which required even more time and expense for various physical components and constant attention to the system's continuous operation, something that didn't always happen, as Carlos Melo, the IT manager, told us:
I used to have to have an application server, a database server, and someone maintaining that server. With the move to the cloud, what happened was that we now have 100% of our information online.
We chose Skyone because they have a very strong partnership with Siagri, and we benefited greatly from that; it's truly available 24/7. We had an issue, and I needed to call at 11 PM, and there were always people available.
Furthermore, the headquarters controlled the branches, so if something happened in one system, all the others would stop. Maintaining this structure and, in addition, keeping all the data available was a major challenge, especially with the high volume of data the company handled. On many occasions, they faced obstacles to keep everything fully operational, even experiencing downtime for several days, which can cause significant losses.
All our control, from inventory and sales to issuing invoices, stock control, and billing—the system manages everything for our company.
If the power went out at headquarters, we would shut down all the other branches because the system was centralized at headquarters, messing up all our information. We had to stop everything to correct this error, and this error was recurring daily.
Being without access and not knowing when the system would be restored caused great disruption, as well as disorganization and losses.
"We used to have it stuck for two to three days waiting for our system to change or alter something so we could fix it, update it, and until that happened, it was causing us losses. So we started contacting Skyone. Before, when it went down, let's say the main office where the server was located went down, everything went down! Everyone was stuck in a branch that had a power outage, for example, and others had power but no product. That problem is over."
Skyone's Cloud Solution
After experiencing numerous server outages and seeking new solutions to keep its system always available and ready for expansion, the company turned to Skyone. Furthermore, Central de Adubos needed to maintain the organization and integration of data from its branches and headquarters all in one place. And the cloud is ideal for this.
With Skyone, they were able to reduce their local infrastructure costs, modernize the company, and keep their data always up-to-date and ready for use, no matter where they are. Furthermore, with their expansion plan, they can have as many branches as they want in various cities in the Northeast – and throughout Brazil – without needing to worry about a specific IT team and local servers; we can expand their capacity via auto-scaling.
Results
The results couldn't be better! The company can rest assured about server downtime, speeding up demands, and ensuring data synchronization, always available instantly to everyone.
We were delighted with the performance, even down to 3g. It completely solved the synchronization problem. Carlos Melo. IT Manager. Fertilizer Plant
Despite some initial apprehension about betting on a new technology, the cloud surprised everyone and delivered very satisfactory results, impressing with its speed and dynamism.
Aurélio Cavalcante, president of Central de Adubos, is proof that understanding and investing in technologies to make your company's work better and faster is the best decision.
Even I was hesitant at first, because when he presented Skyone, I said no, there's no way I can work with the cloud. If I'm working near Juazeiro, Petrolina is already slow, imagine in the cloud where I'll be working in other places. That's when we were surprised; the structure and platform are very lightweight. If the network goes down, it uses the cellular network, so we rarely experience network outages.
Furthermore, equipment costs are reduced, as is the need for a dedicated IT maintenance team. This allows the company to focus on its results without worrying about technical issues, since with the cloud, the Skyone team takes care of all the infrastructure.
